Wanted: One Caring Mentor

“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself and helps bring it out of you.” Bob Proctor

There is no doubt that successful business engagements begin with finding the perfect mentor  - one caring mentor - who will educate, engage, and empower you to become all you can become. If you were to craft a mentor’s help wanted statement, I am sure it would read:

Wanted: One Caring Mentor

One caring mentor who is the voice of reason when reason abandons me, the voice of calm when anger rages through my veins, the voice of encouragement when doubt finds me and the voice of strength when fear immobilizes me.

One knowledgeable mentor who provides guidance and constructive criticism.

One compassionate mentor who knows when to be tough and when to go easy.

One committed mentor who is willing to share skills, knowledge, and expertise.

One enthusiastic mentor who is optimistic and acts as a positive role model.

One inquisitive mentor who values ongoing learning and professional development.

One successful mentor who sets and meets personal and professional goals and fosters those behaviors in others.

One authentic mentor who demonstrates honesty, transparency, and integrity in all things.

One good listening mentor who effectively communicates both verbally and non-verbally and understands my words and my silence.

One accessible mentor who is there when I need them to be there and isn’t when I don’t.

One insightful mentor who is willing to share lessons learned (both the successful lessons and the not so successful ones.)

One challenging mentor who will push me to venture outside of my comfort zone.

One loyal mentor who will keep confidential information confidential.

One confident mentor who will be as proud of my successes as they are of their own.

Wanted: One caring mentor who will walk beside me on my professional journey, sharing that journey to some unknown destination. Yet completely willing to end up wherever I need to go, letting go of control and just offering unconditional support. If found, I will achieve my purpose and reach my potential. And I will be profoundly grateful for your contribution to my success!
