Wanted: One Successful Me

“Very few individuals have asked themselves the fundamental question: What is the purpose of values? They provide us with principles that, if we live by them, improve the probability of staying alive, being successful, and ultimately being happy. So, a proper set of values is about achieving success and happiness.” John Allison

Mission is your purpose. Vision is your potential. Values are the principles by which you conduct your actions. Success is when you are consistently guided by a set of principles to achieve your purpose and maximize your potential. It is when who you are is what you do. It is when passion and career converge.

In previous blogs, I have asked the question if we were to create help wanted statements for various stakeholders in our lives what would they look like? I would be remiss if I did not address the most important one: What would your "Wanted: One Successful  ME"  advertisement look like? I believe it should include:

Wanted:

One self-confident me who believes in myself and finds where I belong so that I can become all that I was meant to be.

One courageous me who is willing to stand out in the crowd.

One adventurous me who prays BOLD prayers, dreams BOLD dreams and lives a BOLD life.

One hard working me who shows up on time, ready to work, with everything I need to do the job I committed to do and doesn’t stop until it is done.

One disciplined me who can create a plan and work the plan.

One persistent me who adheres to the plan despite difficulties.

One resilient me who can recover and get back on track when I get sidetracked.

One adaptable me who is responsive to change and is continually reshaping to meet tomorrow’s challenges.

One curious me who never stops asking questions and challenging the STATUS QUO.

One enthusiastic me who sees the opportunities in a situation while others see the impossibilities.

One level headed me who keeps my head when everyone else is losing theirs.

One responsible me who takes responsibility for my mistakes, thanks the person that brought them to my attention, and learns from those mistakes.

One honest me who has the grit to speak my truth and the grace to speak it compassionately.

One cooperative me who is a valuable part of the team working toward a common goal.

One caring me who educates, engages, and empowers those around me to be the best version of themselves they can possibly be.

Knowing how you write and act out your "Wanted: One Successful Me" statement will determine your success or failure.  Because what you plant today will ultimately determine what you will reap tomorrow.

If you plant self-confidence, you will reap contentment.

If you plant courage, you will reap achievement.

If you plant adventure, you will reap excitement.

If you plant hard work, you will reap greatness.

If you plant discipline, you will reap self-management.

If you plant persistence, you will reap results.

If you plant resiliency, you will reap prosperity.

If you plant adaptability, you will reap survival.

If you plant curiosity, you will reap personal development.

If you plant enthusiasm, you will reap happiness.

If you plant level headedness, you will reap respect.

If you plant responsibility, you will reap greatness.

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust.

If you plant cooperation, you reap teamwork.

If you plant caring, you will reap friendship.

So be mindful of what you plant now: It will determine what you reap later.

I am asking you to believe that if you plant self-confidence, courage, adventure, hard work, discipline, persistence, resiliency, adaptability, curiosity, enthusiasm, level headedness, responsibly, honesty, cooperation and caring, success is sure to follow.

Because if that is true, then it goes to follow that what others do or do not do in NO WAY determines your success or our failure. Only you determine that. The secret to successful personal engagement is to spend so much time perfecting yourself and your trade that you have no time to worry about your competition.
